Let us presents PING Golf as a new manufacturer

Ping is a well-established family business started by Karsten Solheim who has been the front figure for 40 years. With his death in 2000, Karsten's youngest son, John Solheim, took over as chairman and CEO. Karsten's grandchildren also work at the company.

Ping started in 1959 as a one-man business that made putters in a garage. Karsten Solheim, who then worked as an engineer at General Electric, was dissatisfied with the putters on the market. He designed a new one in his garage and called it "Ping 1A" because of the sound that the metal blade made when it contacted the ball. In 1966, Solheim developed the Anser putter, which has been used in more than 500 PGA Tour victories. Solheim quit his job at General Electric in 1967 to create the Karsten Manufacturing Corporation in Phoenix, Arizona. He expanded his product line in 1969 and added a set of irons that used the patented Ping heel-toe weighting. Solheim's irons were also specially adapted for each golfer, which was unusual at that time. The loft and the position of the club head can be modified according to the golfer's specifications during the heat treatment process.

Today, it is one of the most recognized names in golf equipment. Ping innovations such as perimeter weighting, heat-treated club heads and color coding of lie and loft are now considered standard and used by manufacturers throughout the golf industry.
